Located in Gungahlin and a state-of-the-art workplace for over 300 staff, Defence Housing Australia’s new office is the result of years of campaigning to bring a large government agency to a town centre in need of jobs.

With an impressive design by CK Architecture and a build by Construction Control, our Australian-made Click-on Battens and Click-on Screens crafted from timber were chosen for the fit-out.

Screens a major feature

The fit-out aims to reflect the core principles of activity-based working and provide a flexible environment to support collaboration.

Click-on Screens thoughtfully scattered throughout the office are a lovely feature, helping to bring privacy and spatial division between the areas. Some screens were chosen to be straight and others incorporated curves, something easily achieved by installing on a curved track. To support the different iterations of battens within the screens, there were support rods added.

Timber (Vic Ash) is a clever choice of material also, ensuring durability in high-traffic areas. Spatial architecture is also easily achieved with screens. Their flexible design, invisible fixings and strong joins enable impressive multi-functional spaces.

Inviting timber walls

To complement the timber screens throughout the office, timber batten walls were also included. A sound choice to add warmth to an interior, as well as durability and quality acoustic properties to help keep any noise to a minimum.

Our Click-on Battens are made out of high-quality timber and finished to perfection, offering a flawless finish in areas where they’re able to be inspected close up. Timber walls are included within areas where staff may sit and talk, such as in dining areas and common spaces.

Click-on Battens are a concealed fix linear feature battening system for acoustic walls and ceilings. The package is comprised of profiled timber battens, mounting tracks with factory-fitted clips and acoustic backing.
