A blissful oasis of world-class luxury wellness, this carbon-neutral wellness retreat echoes the sprawling Mornington Peninsula landscape.
Purposefully designed by Hayball with raw minimalism in mind, Alba’s brutalist concrete façade is contrasted by anodised aluminium Sculptform Click-on Battens blending seamlessly into the native flora to reflect the restorative properties of water and light.

Materials
Visual Identity
Alba has a distinctive visual identity, thanks to its bespoke finishes and dramatic modern architecture. The use of tactile materials and tonal colour palettes strengthen the connection to nature. Raw materiality is expressed through an intricate feature wall clad in hand-made Spanish brick tiles and concrete pillars that convey a sense of grandeur as you enter.
Anodised Aluminium Battens
Sculptform anodised aluminium Click-on Battens make a statement upon arrival, completely covering the upper-level exterior, and softening the strong concrete exterior of the sprawling 150,000 sqm site utilising curved forms to strengthen and enhance the circular nature of the geothermal pools to induce a sensorial experience.

Linear Textures
Click-on Battens have taken on another purpose and are featured throughout the extensive exterior of Alba in this $100M build, including the many amenities buildings, creating a screen like feature to provide a sense of privacy while allowing light to shine through.
There is a sense of continuity across the complex with the inclusion of the Click-on Battens extended to the outdoor café area, creating an inviting space for clientele to grab a quick bite to eat or refreshing beverage.

Carbon Neutrality
The overarching aim of this project was sustainability. Hayball were attracted to the design flexibility of our aluminium battens offering a durable, maintenance-free and fire-resistant solution for the project’s facade, contributing to the offsetting of carbon emissions and trending Alba towards net zero.
Alba is committed to continue offsetting carbon emissions via five main strategies including the elimination of single use items, renewable solar energy for heating pools, sourcing local products, regenerating and replanting habitat, and encouraging local fauna.
