Architecture and Cultural Identity – Inspiration From Indigenous Heritage

This live studio event uncovered the fascinating design of New Zealand’s Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre Precinct and explored the role of cultural identity through architecture. Design Thinking and Collaboration Principles in an Architectural Context

Presented by White Light Education’s Christian Duell. Christian discussed his nonlinear journey from architect to design thinker, complete with practical tasks to help develop a collaborative mindset. Attendees became equipped to apply design thinking strategies to produce better outcomes in the architectural setting. A range of Sculptform case studies where shared, focusing on how architects and designers can utilise their supplier connections within designs.

Friends of the Industry: Munro Site, Queen Vic Markets Renewal

An opportunity to learn about one of Melbourne’s most significant landmark developments and a key feature of the renewal of the Queen Victoria Market Precinct. Keynote speakers from Six Degrees Architects, PDG Corporation and STREAT shared exclusive insights into this exemplar council development and how the project drew on values of sustainability, health and modern design, with the market’s legacy and Melbourne’s laneway culture serving as major points of inspiration.

Space Orienting to Place: The Melbourne Airport Journey

Presented by Dean Latham and Malgorzata Haley, Associate Principals of Grimshaw, this talk discovered the elements that allowed the physical space of the new T2 terminal at Melbourne Airport to orient visitors to the city of Melbourne. Focusing on the design and delivery journey, of how wayfinding elements were incorporated to provide a more comfortable, safe and enjoyable airport experience.
