Do wood slat ceilings help with acoustics?

Yes, they can. The open gaps between the slats allow sound to travel through the ceiling rather than bouncing straight back into the room. If stronger acoustic control is needed, an acoustic backing can be installed behind the slats to absorb sound and reduce echo. The level of performance depends on the spacing and backing selected.

Can I use wood slats on a curved ceiling?
Yes. The mounting tracks used in our timber batten ceiling system can be curved to a specified radius. This allows battens to follow the form of a curved ceiling or bulkhead while maintaining consistent spacing and alignment across the surface.
How do I clean and maintain a timber slat ceiling?

For interior applications, a timber slat ceiling is generally low maintenance. Light dusting with a soft cloth or vacuuming with a soft brush attachment is usually sufficient.

For exterior installations, timber exposed to weather will require periodic recoating to maintain its colour and finish over time.
