Thermal Break
The SLS Pad is constructed from 8mm thick, low-density fiberglass coated with fluoropolymer. With an R-Value of 0.21 m²K/W, it is specifically engineered to provide a thermal break between cladding and steel framing.
Pad size options
- 50x140mm – for Offset Brackets
- 50x80mm – for Mounting Tracks fixed to substrate
External Insulation Thickness Options
ROCKWOOL Rainscreen Insulation, a stone wool product, is designed specifically for ventilated cladding systems, to reduce the thermal bridging effect through the studs, offering superior thermal performance. It’s non-combustible and moisture repellent ensuring the structure’s breathability and dryness. The panels come in 1200 mm x 600 mm with thicknesses from 25mm to 100mm. See table below.
Insulation Thickness | Offset Bracket Required | R Value |
---|---|---|
25mm | 60mm | 0.75 |
38mm | 60mm | 1.10 |
50mm | 60mm | 1.45 |
75mm | 110mm | 2.20 |
100mm | 110mm | 2.95 |

Fastener types and Corrosion Zones
The degree of corrosiveness is defined by ISO 9223 and effects the fixings used on the project. The categories are classed from C1 to CX, and typically, a cladding system used externally would be classed between C3 to CX.
Fixing Types
Substrate | ISO 9223 Class | Fastener Types |
---|---|---|
Timber | C1 – C3 | 14-10 x 40mm Type 17 galvanised |
C4 and above | 14-10 x 35mm Type 17 Stainless Steel Pit Screws | |
Steel | C1 – C3 | 14-10x50mm Hex Washer Class Self Drilling Screws |
C4 and above | 14-14 x 50mm Hex Washer SD Screws Bimetal 316 S/S | |
Concrete | C1 – C3 | XSAH-Z Concrete Screw-Anchor Hex Zinc Seismic |

Bushfire Attack Level (BAL)
Aluminium, deemed non-combustible per AS 1530.1 and AS 1530.3, is suitable for BAL 12.5 and BAL 19 without any additional inclusions in reference to AS 3959.
For BAL 29, 40 and FZ, compliancy can be achieved through meeting the FRL requirements in clause 9.4.1c of AS 3959. Contact us for more information.
Sustainability
Sculptform is proud to offer products with Declare Labels, a transparency initiative that helps architects and designers make informed choices about materials. Declare Labels provide clear, accessible information on the ingredients used in our products, ensuring they meet strict sustainability standards. By choosing Sculptform, our customers can confidently specify materials that contribute to healthier, eco-friendly building environments, supporting their sustainability goals and aligning with green building certifications like LEED and WELL.
Our declaration is LBC RED LIST APPROVED.
This is defined as: products disclose a minimum of 99% of ingredients present in the final product and meet the LBC Red List Imperative requirements through one or more approved exceptions.
Weatherproofing
The Velo rainscreen facade system is designed to have layers of redundancy, with each element of the buildout contributing to weather tightness, water resistance and condensate control in the wall cavity. With the outer aluminium cladding repelling and removing most of the water through drainage, supported by a ventilated cavity for pressure equalisation and drying in combination with a weather resistant membrane provides the ultimate in weather defence. Tested to AS 4284.
Orientation
Cladding boards are only suitable for vertical orientation – contact us for further options
Lengths
Boards are available in lengths of up to 6m.
Thermal Expansion
Our cladding boards are 100% aluminium, with the system designed to accommodate thermal expansion. This expansion occurs over the length of the board, with the following data being calculated as a guide. These examples of thermal expansion are based on cladding boards of 4m and 6m being installed in winter at 0°C and then heated to 50°C in summer.
Board Length | Expansion (in board length) |
---|---|
4m | 4.6mm |
6m | 6.9mm |
