Click-on Battens Elevate an Award-Winning Sustainable Dealership
Lexus of Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand

The Lexus of Christchurch dealership, designed by Warren and Mahoney, features a spacious showroom, welcoming customer lounges, premium offices, and convenient parking. Every element has been thoughtfully planned to enhance the customer experience and support employee wellbeing, from the use of sustainably sourced, high-quality materials to integrated acoustic solutions and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Sculptform met this vision with precision and innovation, integrating Click-on Battens with curved mount tracking to deliver a seamless, refined aesthetic that mirrors Lexus’ commitment to detail. Spanning on two levels, the batten system brought the design to life by shaping the curved amenities pod, seamlessly integrating concealed doors and incorporating sustainably sourced materials with acoustic backing.

Elevating Spaces with Click-on Battens Detailing
100% PEFC-certified Spotted Gum Click-on Battens were used on all two levels which allowed a smooth transition around the walls and door creating a design fluidity. The 40mm x 30mm dome-profiled battens, installed with 16mm gaps on curving tracks, created an uninterrupted vertical flow from floor to ceiling including the reception area.
The curved mounting track allowed a fast and reliable installation process on the rounded interior walls creating a warm and linear appearance essential to Lexus’ visual identity. The result was a stunning representation of modern aesthetics supported by precision and pristine architectural finish.

Seamless Concealed Door Integration
Along with the timber walls, a fully integrated concealed door system was designed to provide entry without disrupting the visual continuity of the wall while still providing function. Fully hidden yet operable, it showcases the adaptability of the Click-on Batten system in meeting both practical and aesthetic requirements.

Acoustic Backing for a Calmer Space
Timber Click-on Battens naturally enhance acoustics, absorbing sound and reducing echo to create calmer, more comfortable spaces. For Lexus of Christchurch, integrated acoustic panel solution works seamlessly with the curved mounting as this combination delivers high acoustic performance, helping manage sound levels in busy areas, enhancing customer comfort and creating an elegant atmosphere.

Sustainable Design Without Compromise
A commitment to sustainability guided every stage of the project. The choice of timber was driven by more than just aesthetics given that the material used is 100% PEFC- certified which is responsibly sourced hardwood that contributed to Lexus’ commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. To ensure transparency, materials with Declare labels were prioritised. This initiative provides clear, accessible information on product ingredients and ensures they meet Red List Approved standards, contributing to a healthier, eco-friendly environment.
The conscious decision of combining sustainable innovation with durability set a new benchmark and the design brought a natural warmth and acoustic comfort to spaces.
"Throughout the building process, preference has been given to materials and finishes with environmental quality certifications... Among this includes... 95% of all timber being certified by a recognised forest certification scheme."
