Spotted Gum Battens

The ceiling of Creek Street Christian College makes a statement above the traffic made by busy year 11 and 12 students. A heavy sense of warmth is provided through the use of the timber which anchors the two-level open plan learning space.

Situated on the ceilings above the lounge/kitchen area, staircase and reading/co-working space, the timber battens contribute to a sense of calm, thanks to the biophilic qualities that timber provide.

Flawless Mitered Corners

The ends of the Click-on Battens along the staircase balustrade connect with the ceiling of the floor below via mitered corners. A mitered join can be achieved when two edges of a timber batten meet at a 45 degree angle, creating a 90 degree corner.

The builder did an impeccable job of creating mitered corners on each join, with battens meeting exactly with each other.
