Custom Detailing for a Cohesive Finish

Seamless Integration Design Challenge

One of the key architectural challenges of the project was the desire to keep structural elements hidden, ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted aesthetic. Sculptform developed an innovative custom batten overlap detail to enclose structural posts seamlessly, maintaining the flow of the design. This solution utilised 15mm notched batten ends, paired with Click-on Screen End Mount, that allowed the battens to align perfectly around 50x50mm SHS beams. This detailing not only concealed the beams but also supported the project’s minimalist and highly functional design ethos, as devised by Bates Smart

Custom Design Finishes

Due to the size and layout of the screens in the project, the standard approach wasn’t sufficient. The custom end posts provided a tailored solution, enhancing the overall aesthetic by delivering a consistent, high-quality finish that aligned with the sleek design vision.  

To ensure a polished and professional finish, Sculptform devised custom timber end posts for the Click-on Screens. These end posts were designed to cap off the screens cleanly, preventing any rough or unfinished edges. 

This attention to detail highlights Sculptform’s commitment to adapting its systems to meet project-specific needs, ensuring every aspect of the installation contributes to the design intent. 

A Cohesive Palette with Whitewashed Finishes

The natural warmth and softness of the design were enhanced by dome-profile battens, finished with a whitewash coating. This finish was chosen to complement the building’s beige tones, tying together the material palette and adding a tactile quality to the walls and ceilings. Through seamless detailing, concealed structures, and carefully selected finishes, Sculptform’s Click-on Battens and Click-on Screens contributed to a design that invites calm and contemplation.
