A Sustainable Vision
The Taronga Zoo Institute of Science and Learning is a Green Star Design & As Built, 6 Star Certified Building. Key initiatives such as the use of renewable materials, recycled water and design choices to minimise the energy footprint of the building drove the sustainable vision of the project, which achieved the highest possible Green Star rating. The Blackbutt timber Click-on Battens contributed to this rating by using sustainable timber – Certified by PEFC. Learn more about sustainable timber certification here.
Utilising Australian Timber
Our Click-on Batten system is used on the facade and interior walls, utilising a sequence of battens in various depths. All the battens are Australian Blackbutt timber, which is known for its hardy nature and beautiful grain patterns. Clear oil coating is used for both the interior and exterior areas, providing a consistent finish over all the timber feature walls.
